The Twelve Days of Christmas 12/29/20

I especially enjoy the Twelve Days of Christmas, from Christmas Day to Epiphany. The hectic, sometimes frantic, activities of decorating, buying gifts, and attending programs, parties, and dinners are all over and done with for this season. While I enjoy those activities, there is something peaceful and pure about this time of reflection.

Now it is a time of simply rejoicing in the birth of Christ, basking in the glow of God's love as we truly experience the good news of great joy that unto us a Savior has been born. Now there are no distractions, no agendas, no to-do lists. Now it is in the stillness of the moment that we hear His voice whispering softly to our hearts: "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. ... Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ... Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."

In the coming year, may your hearts be filled with the joy of Christ's birth, with gratitude for His sacrifice for you on the cross, and with the glorious hope which is ours in the resurrection to eternal life.
