Pray without Ceasing 5/18/20

“Evening, morning, and at noon, I will pray, and call aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” (Psalm 55:17)

Evening, morning, and noon. Throughout the day, I will pray. I will pray for guidance and direction. I will pray for wisdom and discernment. I will pray for enlightenment that I might understand His word. I will pray for strength to be obedient. I will pray to confess my sins and ask His forgiveness. I will pray for others. I will pray and offer my love, praise, and adoration to my Creator and Savior. Evening, morning, and noon. Throughout the day, I will pray.

Paul says to pray without ceasing. Prayer is a lifestyle. Prayer is a condition of the heart. To the saved, prayer is as natural and necessary as the act of breathing. It is spiritual breathing. We exhale; we empty ourselves of self, of pride, of arrogance. We inhale; we breathe in and fill ourselves with the life-giving power of the Holy Spirit.

As we pray, our mind is stayed on Christ. He saturates our entire being. He gives us perfect peace. I call aloud and have His assurance that He hears my voice. Christ is outside us, sitting at the right hand of the Father, but He is also inside us. We are united with Him by the Holy Spirit. The believer is in Christ, and He is in the believer. I cannot cease praying any more than I can cease breathing.

Evening, morning, and at noon, I will pray. And He will hear my voice. Amen.

Pastor Mike
