When I Awake 4/29/20

“As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.” (Psalm 17:15)

The thought of beholding God’s face can be terrifying. To stand before a holy God, God who knows my heart and my every thought, God who knows my weakness, my failures, it makes me tremble. However, I shall behold His face in righteousness, not in my own righteousness, of which there is none, but in the righteousness of Christ. To stand before God, accepted in the Beloved.

To Christ I came and confessed my sins. And Christ, who is faithful and just, forgave me my sins. More than forgiveness, He cleansed me from all unrighteousness. God, I shall behold Your face, bowing before You, cleansed by the blood of Your Son. I shall behold Your face in righteousness.

When I awake, when I awake in Your presence, when I have cast off this mortal flesh, I shall be satisfied with Your likeness. I shall no longer see through a glass darkly, but I shall see You face to face. On that day I will see You as You are, and I shall be like Your Son, conformed to His image by the Holy Spirit.

“When I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.” Amen.
